
This female freshwater crocodile was up on the bank at Fogg dam, and audibly hissing at the tourists who were trying to get a selfie with her in the background. I had been trying to get a reasonable shot of a ‘freshie’ for some time and had always found them very shy and retiring, so wondered why she hadn’t scuttled off into hiding. Then I realised that she had a nest with eggs nearby…

I advised the tourists (ok, so I’m a tourist too) to leave her alone and keep a respectful distance.
