This raptor was seen with a Little Cormorant which it seemed to have killed on a the banks of Billabong, at Howard Springs, near Darwin. It’s possible that the Comorant was killed by something else, though – perhaps the Freshwater Crocodiles that also live in the billabong. Brahminy Kites that were also present and very interested in the proceedings.
I thought at first that this was a Little Eagle, but the experts at iNaturalist think it is a Whistling Kite – and I’ll bow to their expertise…
