Green Ant Nest – Asian Weaver Ant (Oecophylla smaragdina)

 Nest of green ants – knocked down from the tree by the locals – who don’t appreciate their nasty stings. On the Daly River, NT.  This ant known as the ‘green ant’ in Australia, is officially the ‘Asian Weaver Ant’, Oecophylla smaragdina. That’s according to them good folks over in iNaturalist.org, who know a lot more than me about such things.
