There’s hogwash, there’s greenwash… and then there’s marketing.
The US company Jackery are using a clever ploy to wean gas-happy campers off noisy, polluting generators. They’re pitching their solar mat and lithium battery pack as a ‘solar generator’. Well, it does do the same type of thing… and probably better, with a lot less noise and smell.
Interesting to see that they also use ‘portable electric stoves’ (that’s induction cooktops to you and me) as a example of what you can power with their top range 1500 and 1000 AH models.
As cheaper lithium and improved technology drive the introduction of more and more powerful battery storage, this is certainly an interesting way to drive the move away from petrol generators.
